PeoplesBnB does not charge any commissions to hosts, providing that they are a small or medium size business, such as a homeowner renting rooms, a bed and breakfast, a vacation property owner, or a small, boutique hotel, guest house or motel.
This is different from, for example airbnb. They charge a commission of at least 15.5% of the rent (including the cleaning fee.) Their max fee seems to be 19.5%. VRBO, booking.com and others all charge similar commissions.
We also do not collect the money for the host, pay the credit card fees, etc. In fact, we don’t even know the details of the transaction between host and guest. (We do sync calendars, to avoid advertising a room that’s no longer available.)
Nor do we charge a commission to the guest. So, if you visit Boston and rent a place for $1,000.00, the host can keep the full $1,000.00 if you found them on PeoplesBnB.com. If you reserve through airbnb, the host keeps $805.00 to $845.00.
There are no listing fees; it’s free to put your property on PeoplesBnB.com. No add-ons or optional extras, either.
A rational person might ask—how does PeoplesBnB pay its bills? Our business plan is to do what google, reddit, facebook and instagram do. We’ll allow paid advertising. We believe that airlines, car rental companies, banks, restaurants and tour guides will be interested in showing their products and services to savvy travelers.
Meanwhile, our free service can help hosts to keep more money in their local communities, and travelers may save money as well. We think that will be popular!
